Several years ago, I was working towards a university degree in Criminology, hanging out in police stations and maximum security prisons, trying to carve out a noble existence in the Canadian Criminal Justice System. After a 3 ½ year devotion to the most dismal side of Canadian society, I felt a shiver of emotional responsibility run up my spine – this wasn't me nor was I happy and I had to do something about it. One rainy November morning, 3 weeks before final exams, I decided to make dust. I walked away from it… bye-bye criminal minds.

With time to kill in my wide open schedule, I dusted off my late father’s old Konica camera that I kept in my closet as a keepsake. That day, the world shifted for me. This new-found joy got me all the way there; through this magical machine, I could satisfy almost all my desires from the morbid and self-destructive to the spiritual and enriching. I was hooked.

I went on to study photography at NAIT in Edmonton and since then I’ve been working to make photography my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in Canada and around the world with the most courageously creative and passionate people. Am I a happy guy? Totally.

Along the way, I’ve had some hard lessons and I’ve been lucky too. I’ve picked up a few awards here and there but really, I’m an explorer and its discovery that drives my passion. I do what I love and I love what I do.

Do what YOU love and love what YOU do.
